Melamine contains 67% nitrogen by mass and, if mixed with resins, has fire retardant properties due to its release of nitrogen gas when burned or charred. Melamine resin is a synthetic polymer that is fire resistant and heat tolerant. It is a versatile material that has a highly stable structure. Can be easily molded while warm, but will set into a fixed form, which makes it suitable for certain industrial applications. |
