Application Dimethylpolysiloxane is a versatile, colorless liquid known for its excellent chemical properties and widespread industrial applications. Its primary purpose lies in its role as an antifoaming agent, widely used in various industries to prevent foaming and spattering during processes such as heating oils, and the manufacture of wine, refined sugar, gelatin, and chewing gum. It can be produced in different forms, such as gels, resins, fluids, or elastomers, depending on its cross-linking characteristics. Notably low in toxicity based on animal studies, dimethylpolysiloxane is also a prevalent silicone in medical contexts, being a key component in many prostheses like breast implants. Additionally, in its mixture form as simethicone-combined with silica gel-it serves to alleviate bloating by decreasing gas bubble surface tension in the gastrointestinal tract, effectively used in antacids and remedies for infant colic.
